Research Interests
Dr. Casa de Calvo’s primary research interests lie in the general areas of social cognition and interpersonal processes. Specifically, he is interested in the relationship between nonconscious behavioral mimicry (imitation) and behavioral confirmation (i.e., the self-fulfilling prophecy). Currently, he is investigating whether the imitation of inherently negative behaviors has negative interpersonal consequences. Dr. Casa de Calvo’s past research has focused on the conditions under which extreme expectations influence behavioral confirmation and identity negotiation processes. He is also involved in the development of scales assessing individuals’ naturally-occurring expectations of others and individuals’ general motivation to avoid negative interpersonal bias.

Dr. Casa de Calvo is always interested in working with energetic and motivated research assistants. If you are interested in working in Boise State University’s Interpersonal Processes Lab, please contact him at your convenience.
